Jack Osteen joined Coldwell Banker Commercial Cornerstone in August, 2017 as licensed Real Estate Professional. Jack has more than 25 years of newspaper and marketing experience having worked at various media companies in both Texas and South Carolina in virtually all areas of the business. In addition to bringing his business and marketing background to CBC, Jack is co-owner of Osteen Publishing Company which owns The Sumter Item where he served as Publisher for more than 12 years. He is also a partner with his brothers in OPC News, LLC which owns newspapers and other media products in Florida, Alabama and New Mexico. Over the years, Osteen has worked on various commercial and economic development deals with both the city and county of Sumter. He currently serves on the Sumter County Economic Development Board and the Sumter Smarter Growth Initiative Board. He served on the Penny Sales Tax Commission in 2008. Jack is a graduate of the South Carolina Economic Development Institute and Leadership South Carolina. He serves as Chair of the Economic Restructuring Committee for Downtown Sumter. Jack was named 2015 Business Person of the Year by the Greater Sumter Chamber of Commerce. In addition to his commercial and business success, Jack has bought and sold several properties in downtown Charleston and currently owns and manages several rental properties of his own. Jack is also a partner with the Sumter Investment Group that opened Wild Wing Café in Columbia in 2005. He has served as President of the South Carolina Press Association, President of the YMCA Board, Chairman of the Greater Sumter Chamber of Commerce, Chairman of the United Way Board, President of the Sumter Rotary Club where he was named 2015 Rotarian of the year. He currently serves as Chairman of the Shaw/Sumter Community Council and was recently awarded the Air Force Distinguished Public Service Award by former Air Force Chief of Staff General Mark Welsh. Jack is a 5 th generation Sumterite and is a graduate of Woodberry Forest High School in Virginia and the University of South Carolina-Columbia with a degree in Political Science and minor in business. He is married to Susan Doherty Osteen of New Braunfels, Texas and they have a daughter Elise and a son John.
